We have a tradition of excellence at CISD which has resulted in being the #1 ranked district in the state for STAAR. From Special Education to Advanced Placement classes, we should be continuing to provide our Dragons with excellent academic resources to pursue innovation while never abandoning the traditional values that make dragons strong.

Qualified teachers are the bedrock to a strong academic foundation for our students. In order to recruit and retain the best and brightest teachers, we need to understand what they need and offer support systems to help them do their job passionately, effectively and efficiently.

The board must maintain a zero-based budget, eliminating the need to raise taxes or pass new bonds. Our schools are the biggest driver of property values. Keeping taxes low should be a priority, especially with record-high appraisals and inflation. Because CISD is part of Robin Hood, we must be creative in balancing our budget while providing exceptional resources for our Dragons. I will maximize efficiency to make every dollar count. We can do even better by allowing for annual pay increases for our teachers. As a board member, I would work to find additional revenue sources and operational efficiencies to account for any shortfalls in revenues provided by the state.

Our Dragons should be valued and protected every day when they are at school. The board should be vigilant about continually looking for ways to allow for a secure learning environment, not only in a physical sense, but also operationally. That means a board that leads with integrity and remains fully transparent with parents.
